When you’re flooring somewhere which gets a lot of footfall, and is likely to have things spilt and dropped on it regularly, you’re going to need something pretty hardy in order to stay looking fresh despite the arduous life you’re likely to put it through. Poor old floor.
There’s lots of different flooring types you might have considered, and you may be struggling to decide what will work best, so thankfully we’re here to help.
Which room are you flooring?
Every room will have completely requirements from its floor covering. In a kitchen you’ll need something hardwearing which can deal with spills and being in a moist, sometimes hot environment.
You might drop or spill something hot on there as well, so anything which resists heat is a bonus.
In a bathroom your main concern in moisture. Hot steamy showers and baths mean that these rooms are often the most warm and humid in your house. As a result you’re going to need flooring which can deal with the strain. Hardwood might seem resistant, but the natural material can warp and easily ruin your brand new flooring. You’ll also need to be exceptionally careful with clearing up spills.
Then there’s hallways. These are particularly tricky because they’ll have a lot of footfall, and often those feet are likely to be dirty. Easy cleaning is an absolute must. You’re also going to want to consider the fact that often your hallway will be the first impression visits get of your entire home, and so you’re going to want something which is not only practical but also looks great (even after a long time.
In some rooms you’ll be a bit limited to your choices (obviously carpet is out of the window in bathrooms and kitchens), while in others you can use anything you like. Versatile options like Flotex flooring can be used in any room at all because it has lots of the qualities of a hard flooring like vinyl but with the comfort and warmth of a textile floor.
What are the benefits of versatile flooring?
With a lot of traditional flooring options you need to compromise on some of your requirements. Vinyl might be easy to clean, but it can sometimes look a bit cold, and while carpet is soft and cosy it clings on to smells and can be a bit of a faff to clean.
Even the most expensive choices have their downsides. Hardwood can’t be used anywhere with any moisture or the risk of spillage, and stone is incredibly cold underfoot.
That’s before we even get started on the appearance of the thing.
We think we’ve found a solution though; Flotex flooring could be the answer to all your flooring needs.
