Tactile Timber Comfort with Flotex Naturals (5/1/12)
4 January 2012
Flotex HD from Forbo Flooring Systems has gone from strength to strength with the addition of a new sheet collection that combines the visual charm of wood with the comfort, practicality and easy maintenance for which Flotex is renowned. Drawing on Forbo’s high definition printing expertise, Flotex Naturals is a collection of 13 exciting timber effects that firmly establishes Flotex HD as a practical and design focused choice for many projects.
Flotex is already in a league of its own as the only flooring to combine the properties of both textile and resilient flooring. Now Flotex Naturals allows specifiers to create the appealing wood aesthetic but without the associated installation and maintenance drawbacks. Flotex Naturals presents a commercially viable alternative that offers the allure of timber flooring alongside the easy installation and acoustic properties of Flotex, enabling specifiers to strike a balance between design, functionality and long-term maintenance cost.
Each of the colourways is printed using high definition techniques, resulting in photo-realistic wood effects. The collection caters for every aesthetic, from classic effects such as Steamed Beech and Stained Pine, to the warmth of Cedar, Golden Oak and Chestnut. The collection also boasts modern finishes such as European White and Blackened Oak, while the Reclaimed Pine and Mixed Antique colourways tap perfectly into the on-trend ‘vintage’ look.
“Perfectly bridging the gap between design and practicality, the Flotex Naturals collection means specifers no longer have to compromise when it comes to creating modern, design-led interiors,” comments Julie Dempster, Marketing Manager at Forbo Flooring Systems. “These new designs capture the natural appeal of wood, whilst possessing the tactile qualities of carpet - and still meet all the cost and maintenance requirements expected from many commercial projects.”
Quieter and more comfortable underfoot than wood, Flotex is made up from millions of electrostatically flocked fibres. This unique construction delivers the hard wearing and washable characteristics of a resilient floor, yet also the warmth, comfort and acoustic properties of carpet. In addition, the highly effective anti-microbial treatment Sanitized ® means Flotex offers constant protection against bacteria including MSRA and E-coli. Flotex has also received the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval for the way it traps allergens and then safely releases them to vacuuming.
This unrivalled functionality coupled with the fresh and contemporary designs offers greater opportunity for the incorporation of Flotex into a wide range of schemes. Forbo’s integrated approach to the development of this new sheet collection means it works well with existing designs in its linoleum, vinyl, entrance systems and carpet tile collections, enabling the creation of truly integrated flooring design concepts.
