As a result, he travels across the country to play in matches and has a busy summer ahead of him when he plays test matches against Spain and Germany as well as the European Championships in Holland in August.

But life will be a littler simpler now as he has been sponsored by Folkestone-based company Remland Carpets.

Company owner Trevor Ballard, a keen sportsman himself, told the Herald he was only too pleased to help.

He said: "He's a young man tipped to go all the way and we're delighted to be able to help out.


"Ross is a very talented young man and we hope we can help out in any way as he tries his luck in the European Championships, the hockey world cup in 2013.

"His ultimate goal is to progress into the senior England side and play at the 2016 Olympic Games."
