Remland Sponsor Table Tennis Tournament

The tournament was once again held at Pent Valley Leisure Centre and it attracted over 60 players in 14 competitions.

Last year's winners Chris Hooper and Ray Jordan kept their men's doubles crown after beating David Cloake and Alan Taylor 3-0.

Number 1 seed Kate Richmond won the ladies singles title after beating Linda Greenwood in the final before finishing runners-up in the ladies doubles. She teamed up with Jan Bennett but they lost 3-1 to winners Leanne Hart and Sam Jones.

The mixed doubles title was taken by the mother-and-son pair of Pam and Kevin Powell who beat last year's winners Ray Jordan and Sam Jones in five sets.

Dale Ballard retained the under-18 title with a win over Simon Hulse but Hulse didn't go home empty-handed as he retained the under-15 crown. Jake Saxby finished second.

The under-13s event was won by newcomer Josh Hewett who beat Tom Harrie-Thompson in three sets.

Simon Hulse partnered brother Rob to win the boys doubles with Dale Ballard and Jake Saxby finishing runners-up.

Kevin Leppard retained last year's Band A title with a win over Jim Wraight, Band B was won by Michael Hewett who edged out Charlie Brown while Charlie Richards beat Jenna Bispham in Band C,

Dale Ballard and James Marchant lost the first set of the banded doubles but they saw off Ian Friend and Steve Powell 3-1.

Jack Stewart and Clive Wilkinson overcame Barry Yarnley and Jenna Bispham in the allocated doubles.
