Flotex Reduces Accidents
7 February 2012
Derbyshire-based flooring manufacturer Forbo Flooring has greatly reduced the risk of accidents and injuries to its workforce after investing in new electric-operated tugs for moving heavy rolls of flooring between production lines.
Forbo Flooring Systems is a manufacturer of floor coverings, including linoleum, vinyl, carpet tiles, flocked flooring, subfloor systems, floorcare products and fully integrated entrance matting systems for commercial, residential, educational establishments, the MoD and healthcare customers worldwide.
In the UK, the company has a manufacturing plant in Ripley, Derbyshire, which produces Flotex sheet and tile flooring for domestic and overseas markets. Flotex is a unique hybrid floor covering that looks and feels like a carpet, with a smooth, velour-like surface that is comfortable to walk on, warm underfoot and has excellent slip-resistant and acoustic properties. The Ripley factory is the Group's global production centre for Flotex products, producing approximately 3.2 million square metres of sheet and tile flooring each year, with 92% of this production exported. The factory employs around 160 people.
